At various times since 2003 when I came to Vancouver Island after over 20 years of living in a monastic setting, there’s been a clear sense about this aspect of training—how our karmic conditioning seems layered. Part of this layering is what I’ve referred to as a cutting edge: the kōan of everyday life.
